Civil War Journal - Second Post

Uncle Tom's Cabin is a famous book written by Harriet Beecher Stowe. It was written before the Civil War in 1852. It tells the story of Uncle Tom and other slaves who were bought and sold. It is an anti-slavery novel and became one of the top-selling novels of the 1800's.

This novel excited and encouraged abolitionists, and angered those who were pro-slavery.

We will be reading different reviews of this novel and deciding whether they were written by Northerners or Southerners. How can we tell? And what if you had only read one side of the story, what would you think about this novel?

On the second page of your journal please write:

-The number of your passage
-Was this written by a Northerner or a Southerner?
-How can you tell?
